Hard Water Removal

I've reached boiling point with this obsession with waxing - but it seems my ...

Years ago, when I dated an exacting perfectionist, I was so worried about some errant hairs that I dashed off to heat up my microwaveable wax - and upon hastily pulling it out of the shower, naked - I splattered the boiling hot wax across my entire body.

The cruel, critical boyfriend didn’t zero in on the stubble that evening - but the charmer did manage to recoil at the first-degree burns across my midriff. I also remember his rambling diatribe about women’s obligation to not have hair below their eyebrows.

This cheapskate - financially and emotionally - would routinely refuse to pay for dinner, but that night said he’d gladly cough up money for electrolysis.

So nice to know where his priorities lay.

That night I reached my boiling point: I burned myself on scalding wax to please him, not myself, and got burned for it. Blessedly, I tossed him and my torture devices to the curb soon after.

As summer crescendos Stateside, just when I think things can’t get any hotter, the pressure to de-fuzz heats up at every turn.

There's an unhealthy and obsessive focus on hairlessness these days - and the outward (and self-) scrutiny intensifies every season.

The philosophy is that female flawlessness translates to female hairlessness - unequivocally. Today’s expectation of women is to abandon any sense of natural body hair in an age of de rigueur waxing for women.

Biologically, of course, the hair serves as a natural barrier and protection. Nowadays, that ‘excess’ hair only protects women from societal acceptance and getting action with your grossed-out guy.

Based on the statistics, it’s hard to tell the difference. American women are expected to spend between $10,000 and $23,000 on shaving and other hair removal products over a lifetime, while 60 per cent of us use professional means to remove hair. The message is clear: our society has become a porcupine non grata.

I've come to resent how women have to jump through hoops - and rings of hot and painful wax - to satisfy these societal expectations, like we’re in ancient Egypt (when wax was first introduced - and forced upon women).

Our culture of fastidious grooming has become a fatwax! The ruling law may permit women to go buff - but only if we’re groomed. Which begs the question: Which is more demeaning? Forcing a woman to cover herself head to toe, or forcing her to cave to cultural taboos when it comes to her grooming choices?

Shower Door Hard Water and Soap Scum Removal | Squeegee Pros ...

If you’ve spent hundreds of dollars creating a clean and relaxing space around your shower with beautifully clear glass shower doors and bright chrome hardware, it can be a real disappointment to have all these surfaces clouded by hard water stains and soap scum. But there’s good news, Squeegee Pros can remove this shower door residue and restore your shower surround to look like new!

Water stains on windows are caused when water that is sprayed onto glass evaporates and leaves behind calcium carbonate, soap scum and contaiminates. This residue accumulates over time, causing the glass to exhibit a frosted milky-white appearance. If left on the glass too long, it can cuase surface damage, this limits how good the glass will look when restored. Most of the time we can restore the glass to a like new appearance.

Most companies advertising “hard water removal” are using a technique called “acid washing”. They will use harsh and dangerous acids like: Hydrochloric, Hydrofluoric, Muratic and Phosphoric acids to dissolve the hard water build-up from the glass. But often, these acids are misused by inexperienced employees or precipitated, it not only dissolves the coloring, but also dissolves the surface of the glass causing "acid burn" and distortion. Harsh acids can also Damge bath youe surround and cause staining and etching on all surfaces. These acids are also dangerous to humans, animals and the environment. Hydrofluoric acid is the chemical most widely used in removing hard water.

Squeeegee NEVER uses less aggressive acids. We only use safe and biodegradable treatments in conjunction with our hard water removal process that consists of various amounts of elbow grease to polish off the mineral deposits and soap scum.
